GEOGRADIENT

In the presence of abnormal pressure conditions, a variety of critical events can affect the drilling process. These include well control situations, stuck pipe, lost circulation, formation breaking and fluid loss. These events may lead to extra casing strings, cement squeeze or remedial jobs and generally expensive down time.

Because of the great costs to the Oil companies and high risks to safety and the environment, accurate pre-drill and while-drilling pore pressure predictions are critical. In this framework, and on Client requests, Geolog has developed and finalized the GeoGradient service. GeoGradient provides critical information that can significantly improved performance on drilling operations.

GeoGradient (pore pressure analysis service) benefits from the deep Mud Logging knowledge and proven competence in formation and drilling evaluationof Geolog and its experienced engineers, together with the latest Pore Pressure Modeling Software: it provides to Clients the most accurate critical pressure information to:

a.      Optimize casing program
b.      Plan well profile and mud program
c.      Avoid stuck pipe incidents
d.      Optimize drilling procedures
e.      Prevent formation damage
f.       Minimize drilling risks
g.      Improve Safety and Efficiency
h.      Manage Critical Drilling Operations.
i.        Prevent well un-controled situations

GeoGradient combines field experience with the interpretation of drilling parameters, geological and gas data with geophysical data such as Seismic, Resistivity, Gamma Ray and Sonic with the scope to improve the safety and efficiency of drilling operations.

GeoGradient software is a powerful pure stand-alone program, which allows the user to calculate Geo-pressure Gradients from mud logging and LWD log data as well as e-log data (Sonic, Resistivity, Normalized ROP like D Exponent Corrected, Chromatography).

The service is composed of three distinct components: (i) a pre-drill study, (ii) a Real-Time Pressure Evaluation While Drilling, and (iii) a Post Drill Analysis including reporting and reccomendations/considerations.

The following deliverables are provided by our GeoGradient Pressure Engineers:
a.       Pore pressure and fracture gradient and overburden gradient profiles
b.      Suggestions and assistance to Drilling Company team regarding casing program considering kick tolerance, maximum differential pressure, and maximum open hole length
c.       Geo-mechanical Model for use in stability analysis
