Geolog offers highly experienced wellsite and operations geologists from pre-drill to post well: a pool of expert geologists, with knowledge of worldwide fields and extensive experience of drilling operations including challenging High Pressure/High Temperature (HPHT) wells, long reach horizontal, deep water or sour gas (H2S) wells. Furthermore, Geolog’s geologists are experienced communicators and team players, who can be trusted to ensure all geological objectives are met; resulting in a well-informed corporate decision making process and successful project outcomes, often acting as the central liaison between wellsite drilling and geological teams to achieve project goals
Geolog’s wellsite geologists are skilled at delivering all operational responsibilities, including, but not limited to the following:
- Evaluating offset data before beginning drilling
- Liaising between wellsite drilling and geological teams to achieve project goals
- Analysing, evaluating and interpreting gas data and ratio calculations
- Analysing, evaluating and describing formations whilst drilling, using cuttings, gas, FEMWD (formation evaluation measurement while drilling), cores, sidewall cores and wireline data
- Comparing data gathered during drilling with predictions made at the exploration stage
- Advising on drilling hazards, formation pore pressure and drilling bit optimization
- Evaluating geological and drilling data
- Taking full responsibility for making decisions on suspending or continuing drilling
- Advising operations personnel on site and in the operations office
- Communicating with the company operations and reservoir departments, acting, in effect, as the representative of the onshore oil company geology team
- Quality Assurance and supervision of geological service companies including mudlogging, LWD and wireline
- Supervision of geological sample acquisition, storage and despatch
- "Hot shot" sample selection and shipment
- Wireline witnessing and selection of sample and testing points as well as wireline quick look interpretation
- Coring, side wall coring and casing point selection
- Keeping detailed records, writing reports, completing daily, weekly and post-well reporting logs
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of MWD (measuring while drilling) tools, such as gamma and resistivity, as geosteering becomes increasingly important
- Correlation with offset and regional wells and production of correlation panels
- End of Well Reporting and production of final well and completion logs
