Hydrogen Sulphite (H2S) Safety Service
Geolog’s secondary revenue stream is the provision of the Equipment and Personnel in order to achieve a high degree of safety to protect the personnel, during reservoir drilling, completion, well testing and work-over operations (also rig-less) when presence of H2S is foreseen.
All the components of the System are delivered to the worksite on proper transport skids and/or containers.
Geolog’s H2S Safety Service includes the provision of:
- Gas Detection System
- Stationary Monitoring System and Alarms for continuous monitoring and measuring of H2S and other toxic gasses content in atmosphere
- Portable H2S detection sensors to protect personnel working at the rig-site
- Fixed Cascade Air Breathing System
The fixed cascade air breathing system allow a certain number of people to safely perform, for an extended period, the necessary emergency operations when H2S gas concentration in atmosphere is dangerous
- Breathing Equipment
SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) and EEBA (emergency escape breathing apparatus), supplied for emergency operation (connected with the cascade system) and escape purpose
- High Qualified H2S Safety Supervisor
Geolog has a dedicated H2S team which works exclusively on H2S assignments. This can be supplemented on a project by project basis by other engineers who traditionally work in the Mud Logging part of the business. All H2S staff is appropriately qualified, hold valid certifications and are fully trained, including “training for handling of acid and solvent”. In addition, all personnel receive training in Basic Fire Fighting and basic training in First Aid techniques. A typical H2S crew is composed of 2 or 4 supervisors.
Personnel main duties whilst on assignment at client site include the following:
- Supervise the equipment installation, verifying that it covers all the safety aspects
- Run a daily routine inspection and maintenance of the cascade equipment, check and calibration of sensors, ensure that all breathing equipment is always in proper condition and fully operational
- Train all the personnel involved in operations, check all the activity at the worksite.
- Assist the Company Drilling Supervisor in all HSE matters, such as daily safety meetings, pre-jobs meetings, breathing of new arrivals and regular HSE reporting
H2S Equipment & Certification
Geolog’s complete H2S package is composed of:
- One Office Container, including main H2S Monitoring Panel
- One Workshop Container, including equipments for maintenance of the air breathing apparatus
- One Bottle Rack AIR Storage Container
