TRAINING

Geolog puts a very strong emphasis on the training and development of its staff.
New recruits undergo a thorough and detailed series of training courses to familiarise them with Geolog´s procedures, policies, products and services.

Geolog has established eight full-time training centres spread across its regions of operation:
  • Milan, Italy
  • Tripoli, Libya
  • Ploiesti, Romania
  • Hassi Messaoud, Algeria
  • Luanda, Angola
  • Point Noire, Congo
  • Maturin, Venezuela
  • Kuwait City, Kuwait
At Geolog, all field personnel with none or very little experience have to start their career in the Mud Logger role. The training for an entry level Mud Logger is designed especially to prepare our personnel to tackle the working conditions on the rig and provides basics such as: well site geological analysis, hydraulic calculations; safety and drilling engineering.
When experienced operators join Geolog; their training is customised to match their skills. This training is focused more on Geolog´s proprietary equipment and products than on the technical aspects of the role.

Training at Geolog never stops. A big aspect of working in Mud Logging is that it is an ever changing environment. Therefore alongside the continuous on-site learning, Geolog have developed and implemented self training modules. These modules are completed on site under senior supervision and enable our operators to access further levels of training and consequently control and shape their career development.

As staff progress through their career and acquire the requisite field experience, the next training step is to become a Data Engineer. All promotions within Geolog are strictly based on performance, safety record and controlled training modules and therefore not strictly time-dependant. The training of Mud Loggers focuses on the data acquisition and management system as well as on certain aspects of the hardware, eg Comprise sensors, acquisition panels, and the entire gas system.

From this point onwards, advanced courses are provided to personnel who are selected for senior positions such as that of Unit Manager. These courses cover advanced hardware management, gas analysis and pressure analysis.
