GEOLOG puts a very strong emphasis on the training and development of its staff.

New recruits undergo a thorough and detailed series of training courses to familiarise them with GEOLOG's procedures, policies, products and services.

Geolog has established fourteen full-time training centers spread across its regions of operation:
  • Milan, Italy
  • Ploiesti, Romania
  • Hassi Messaoud, Algeria
  • Tripoli, Libya
  • Luanda, Angola
  • Port Gentil, Gabon
  • Pointe Noire, Congo
  • Villahermosa, Mexico
  • Maturin, Venezuela
  • Bogota, Colombia
  • Kuwait City, Kuwait
  • Balikpapan, Indonesia
  • Macae, Brazil
  • Ijmuiden, The Netherlands
At GEOLOG, all field personnel with none or very little experience have to start their career in the Mud Logger role. The training for an entry level Mud Logger is designed especially to prepare our personnel to tackle the working conditions on the rig and provides basics such as: well site geological analysis, hydraulic calculations; safety and drilling engineering.

When experienced operators join Geolog their training is customised to match their skills. This training is focused more on GEOLOG's proprietary equipment and products than on the technical aspects of the role.
Training at Geolog never stops. To help facilitate the training and self-development of our employees we introduced the G-RISE self-training program.
The G-RISE Self Training Program is designed to achieve the following objectives:
  • To bring the Mud Loggers and Data Engineers to a high level of competency
  • To clearly define for each position what is expected from a Field Person in terms of
    • Competences
    • Field exposure and expertise
    • Analysis of events and interpretation of recorded data
  • To promote Field Personnel based on achieving the required competences, field expertise and analysis of events, interpretation of data.
  • To define the controls and tests the Field Personnel shall pass in order to progress in the company
  • To give the Field Personnel the possibility to progress faster, and to manage their own progress
As staff progress through their career and acquire the requisite field experience, the next training step is to become a Data Engineer. All promotions within GEOLOG are left in the hands of the employees. By working through the G-RISE modules our employees can progress at their own rates from an entry level Mud Logger through to Data Engineer and onwards to specialist roles in Gas analysis and interpretation, Bore hole stability, Pore Pressure and Well Site Geology.

For those who wish to progress into an office / operations role we have training for Junior Operations and Technical staff, tailored to the individuals skills and the location of assignment, it is the norm that new operations personnel whether they are promoted from within Geolog or recruited from other Mud Logging Companies will be assigned for their first shifts in an established base where daily training and guidance can be provided from our existing management staff in the country.
